Liquor in Portugal (Portuguese: Aguardente, derived from água ardente, translated: fiery water) includes alcoholic beverages, usually distilled from wine, in Portugal. The alcohol content is legally capped at 78%. The colour can range from clear and colourless to light brown, depending on barrel ageing.
